Case Study:

Pelvic Floor Exercise

My chosen case study for the folio is the pelvic floor exercise app project. It showcases not only my design skills but also my understanding of women’s health and wellness. Drawing from my background in yoga teaching, I identified a common challenge: women often forget to do their pelvic floor exercises. This app aims to create a supportive platform that empowers women at various stages of life. The visual identity reflects an inviting and authentic approach, ensuring it stands out in a crowded market while fostering community and connection.

This case study focuses on the development of a pelvic floor exercise app aimed at empowering women. The app provides guided audio exercises and reminders to help users stay engaged with their health.

Case Study

  • As a yoga lover, I noticed many clients struggled to remember their pelvic floor exercises outside of class. This inspired me to create an app that would support them in their wellness journey.

  • The primary audience is women aged 25-45, especially those who have given birth. The secondary audience includes women aged 45 and older, as well as all female-identifying individuals.

  • The app's visual identity is warm and inviting. I chose soft colors like magenta and pastel shades to create a feminine feel. Watercolor illustrations and rounded shapes add a gentle touch, making the app feel approachable.

    • Guided Audio Exercises: Personal trainers guide users through exercises.

    • Push Notifications: Friendly reminders to encourage regular practice.

    • Community Space: A forum for users to connect and share experiences.

  • The client is a wellness organization focused on empowering women. This app supports pelvic floor exercises for women aged 25-45 and over 45. With a warm color palette and watercolor illustrations, it features guided audio, reminders, and a community space, promoting health and connection among users.

    • Designer: Creating the visual identity, including color palette, typography, and illustrations.

    • Researcher: Understanding the target audience's needs and preferences to inform design choices.

    • Developer: Collaborating on app features, ensuring usability and engagement.

    • Content Creator: Designing guided audio scripts and community content.

    • Project Manager: Overseeing timelines and ensuring the project meets client goals and objectives.

Throughout this project, I gained valuable insights into user-centered design, the importance of inclusivity, and effective communication. I learned how to balance aesthetics with functionality, ensuring the app not only looks inviting but also serves its purpose. Collaborating closely with the client deepened my understanding of health-focused design, reinforcing the impact that well-thought-out resources can have on women's well-being.
